Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) general body on Tuesday approved a proposal to name a municipal garden and playground in Kandivali after Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar, the second chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

The facility, located in Mahavir Nagar on Arvind Malkan Road near Kapol School, will now be officially named after Golwalkar.

With the BJP–Shiv Sena (Shinde) alliance holding a majority in the house, the proposal was cleared without opposition on Tuesday, officials said.

Golwalkar, popularly known as Guru Golwalkar, was the second Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He served as the RSS chief from 1940 to 1973 and played a key role in expanding the organisation across the country and played a key role in expanding the organisation across the country, with a strong focus on cultural nationalism, discipline, and grassroots mobilisation.
