Court allows former Yes Bank CEO Rana Kapoor's wife to travel abroad

Former Yes Bank CEO Rana Kapoor's wife, Bindu Kapoor, has been granted permission by court in Mumbai to travel abroad for 10 days for medical treatment.

A special court in the city has permitted Bindu Kapoor, 65, wife of former Yes Bank CEO Rana Kapoor, to travel abroad for 10 days for the treatment of multiple orthopaedic problems. The court directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to suspend the Look-Out-Circular issued to the applicant to ensure that she is not deprived of this travel.

Justice M G Deshpande has ordered Bindu Rana to submit a report to the court once she arrives in India and inform both the prosecution agencies, CBI and ED, immediately.

According to the order, she was diagnosed with Osteoporosis and D12 Osteoporotic wedging fracture in 2017. Following her doctor’s advice to consider a second opinion, she was suggested to visit one doctor in Dubai. She has been ordered to deposit ₹1 lakh as cash security for this travel, along with providing the itinerary and all the details, true and correct addresses of her stay phone numbers and email addresses.

Rana Kapoor was arrested in 2020 for allegedly misusing his position as then-CEO of the Yes Bank to obtain undue benefits to him. He allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy with the Wadhawan brothers - Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd (DHFL) for extending financial assistance to their firm through Yes Bank in return for a “substantial undue benefit” to himself and his family members through companies held by them.
