Following this, TMC commissioner Abhijit Bangar has directed the health department to stay vigilant.

All doctors in the city have been instructed to start immediate treatment without waiting for test results if patients show symptoms related to H3N2 influenza.

Bangar said, “The health department should provide guidelines to all doctors in this regard. If necessary, a meeting should be held and leaflets should be distributed. Instructions have been given to inform about the guidelines in the WhatsApp group of health centres.”

“Many citizens consult a private doctor first when symptoms of illness appear. If they are not treated properly, they can lead to serious consequences. For this, private doctors will be guided by the health department. At the civil health centre-level, the medical officer has formed a WhatsApp group to coordinate with private doctors,” he added.

“They should immediately bring it to the attention of the concerned medical officers,” he added.

Symptoms of Influenza

Mild fever, cough, sore throat, body ache, headache, diarrhoea, vomiting, shortness of breath, chest pain, bloody stools, low blood pressure, bluish-black nails, irritability in children.
