The move follows a directive from the special director general of police (law and order) to conduct a detailed assessment of properties connected to the brothers and their network. Preliminary findings suggest that proceeds from the sale of these properties were allegedly being routed to Atiq’s wife, Shaista Parveen, his son Ahjam and Ashraf’s wife, Zainab.

Investigations have highlighted substantial land holdings in the Sadar tehsil area, with over 30 plots identified as encroached upon in Ainuddinpur alone. Other scrutinised locations include properties in Kasari Masari and Kesariya Road, as well as an office allegedly operated by the gang near the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT). Authorities noted that following the brothers’ killings in April 2023, several associates allegedly attempted to dispose of benami properties.

“A large number of plots have already been identified, and action is being taken on the remaining ones. The report will soon be handed over to the police,” DM Verma stated.
