According to sources, the details of six Lucknow-based power consumers have been sent to the concerned executive engineers for investigation. In all, 32 consumers of the state capital are under the scanner of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for tampering with meters. These consumers come from different parts of the city, including Chinhat, Alambagh, VVIP area Mal Avenue, and Ashiana, among others.

Madhyanchal officials have said that they were surprised to find out that power meters installed at the property of the errant consumers were similar to those recovered from the meter rigging gang. “The accused will not be spared as every technical detail is being minutely observed by the experts of UPPCL and STF,” said an official.

The managing director of the corporation has given instructions to check the power meters thoroughly to ascertain whether the device inside it has been tampered or not. On the other hand, sources in Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration have said that the STF will nab the contract workers involved in the gang, who caused a revenue loss to the government by tampering with power meters.
