Sharing further details, Arvind Chaurasia, circle officer of the Civil Lines area, said that the family denied autopsy and conducted the last rites at their paternal village Aad in the district’s Mundali area on Monday evening. He added, that the family recently took the girl to the hills for vacation and even gave her gifts so she feels better.

However, on Monday, the girl left home for her school -- Meerut Public Girls School -- but instead went up to the fifth floor of her building and jumped off it after strolling on the terrace for half an hour. Her parents were informed of her suicide by sweepers, who first spotted the body. The girl was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
