Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has reshuffled responsibilities within its health department following the retirement of an assistant health officer last week, officials said on Thursday.

Civic chief Naval Kishore Ram issued the administrative order on June 1 and officers accepted the additional charge on Thursday.

The civic body redistributed the responsibilities handled by Dr Sanjeev Wavare, who retired on May 31, among four assistant health officers.

According to the order, assistant health officer Dr Vaishali Jadhav has been assigned responsibility for the Communicable Diseases Control Programme, District Planning Committee (DPDC) works, Mayor Scheme and the National Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Programme.

Assistant health officer Dr Manisha Naik will manage the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), implementation of national health programmes, birth and death registration, and the medicine stores department.

Assistant health officer Dr Suryakant Devkar has been entrusted with biomedical waste (BMW) management, nursing home registration, the medical licensing department and the AIDS Control Programme. He will oversee public-private partnership (PPP) projects, the Contributory Health Scheme, the Urban Poor Health Scheme, and quality improvement and modernisation initiatives in civic hospitals.
