At a meeting held on March 30, attended by over 200 residents, locals highlighted issues such as public drinking and harassment of women in the area.

Nationalist Congress Party leader Yogesh Sasane said, “More than 200 citizens gathered and raised their concerns about anti-social elements. The police have assured us they will increase their presence and take action.”

Sasane said the canal stretch has become a hotspot for nuisance. “People frequently gather along the canal to consume alcohol, and there have been instances of vulgar comments being passed at women. Earlier, when residents raised complaints, police patrolling was increased, but the problem resurfaced once the vigil reduced,” he said.

He added that multiple housing societies had approached him, prompting the meeting at Kalbhairavnath Temple in the locality.

Police officials also shared helpline details and urged residents to report cases of harassment without delay.
