In a late-night operation, the Lonavla city police on Monday raided a bungalow in the hill station and booked 16 people, including nine men and seven women, for allegedly participating in an illegal rave party. The action followed a tip-off about suspicious activities at the rented property.

According to the police, a police team raided a bungalow in Puranik Society at around 1.30 am and found a group of people allegedly attending a party held without the required permissions.
Sanchin Patil, senior inspector, Lonavla City Police Station, said, “The accused were consuming liquor without permission and creating a public nuisance. The caretaker made the premises available for the gathering without informing the police and facilitated the arrangements.”
The caretaker allegedly fled during the raid.
Police have registered offences against the accused and are examining the role of the bungalow owner, event organisers and others who may have facilitated the gathering.
During the operation, police seized empty cans, liquor bottles and mobile phones collectively valued at around ₹3.90 lakh.
