PUNE: Thousands of dead fish were found in Indrayani river at Alandi on Sunday, while a similar incident was reported in Mula river at Pimple Nilakh on September 11, raising concerns over pollution in the city’s rivers.

The dead fish were found mainly along the river stretch between Siddhabet and Kelgaon, prompting concern among residents.
At Pimple Nilakh, residents reported finding a large number of dead fish along the Mula riverbank on September 11.
Following the incidents, officials from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) visited the affected locations and collected water samples to determine the cause of fish deaths.
Balasaheb Kukde, regional officer, MPCB, Pune, said, “Water samples have been collected from affected sites and results are awaited.”
MPCB is expected to determine whether the deaths were linked to changes in water quality, sewage discharge, chemical contamination or other factors after the test results are received.
