The public transport utility’s first phase of services will connect NMIA with Pune, Dadar and Borivali with two daily services — morning and afternoon. The fare between NMIA and Pune is ₹450.

Arun Siya, divisional controller, MSRTC Pune, said, “The facility will provide passengers with a reliable and affordable public transport option. We are hopeful that the service will be useful for Pune passengers.”

The direct bus connection assumes significance as NMIA is expanding its flight operations and ground transport network. The airport operator has announced that children below 12 years of age and women travelling with a National Common Mobility Card will be eligible for a 50 per cent fare concession on applicable MSRTC services.

The Dadar-NMIA service will operate through Sion and Atal Setu, while the Borivali-NMIA route will connect CSMIA Terminal 1, Bandra and Atal Setu. The corporation is planning services between NMIA and Thane and Nashik by mid-November.
