The court of Additional Judicial Commissioner-IV-cum-Special Judge, POCSO Act, in the city presided over by Judge Birendra Kumar Srivastava, sentenced a man to death for the brutal sexual assault and murder of a seven-year-old girl.
A civil court advocate close to the matter said convict Nesar Ansari (alias Neshar Ansari), aged 32, was found guilty under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
“The horrific incident took place in October 2020 at Oraontoli, under Ratu police station jurisdiction. According to the prosecution, the victim had gone to visit the house of the accused, where he sexually assaulted and murdered her with a sharp weapon (tangi) before wrapping her body in a plastic cement sack and dumping it in a nearby field,” the advocate said.
Prosecution lawyer Pallavi Singh confirmed the judgement, stating the order had been uploaded on the website.
According to the court order available on the website during the trial, the defence argued that the case relied heavily on circumstantial evidence and that several prosecution witnesses had turned hostile. However, the court placed decisive reliance on forensic science and DNA profiling reports. The scientific evidence conclusively matched blood tracks found on the murder weapon to the accused.

{{/usCountry}}The court held that the extreme gravity and heinous nature of the crime against a minor child warranted the highest punishment under the law. Nesar Ansari was awarded the death sentence under Section 302 of the IPC and Section 06 of the POCSO Act. He was also sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of ₹10,000 under Section 201 of the IPC for attempting to conceal evidence.
The order has been forwarded to the High Court for confirmation of the death sentence. Additionally, the court directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, to provide suitable financial compensation to the grieving parents of the deceased girl under the Jharkhand Victim Compensation Scheme.
