The Malda Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal was divided into Maldaha Uttar and Maldaha Dakshin parliamentary constituencies in 2009 after the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission.
Congress’ Mausam Noor won the first election held in Maldaha Uttar after the delimitation in 2009 as she beat Communist Party of India(Marxist) leader Sailen Sarkar. Mausam Noor repeated her performance in the 2014 Lok Sabha election and won against Khagen Murmu of the CPI(M).

Mausam Noor switched to the ruling Trinamool Congress in January 2019.
The Left Front will not field any candidate in Maldaha Uttar Lok Sabha seat, where the general election will be held on April 23, the third of the seven-phased polls. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
