The left-hander surpassed the record of compatriot Richard Levi who scored his hundred in 45 balls in Hamilton during their 2012 series against New Zealand.

Miller, who was dropped on zero, powered his side to 224 for four in their 20 overs as he finished unbeaten on 101 from 36 deliveries, with seven fours and nine sixes.

“It’s a really special feeling,” Miller told SuperSport. “I tried to watch the ball and back myself. I was scratchy to be honest in the beginning and towards the back end it turned out to be sweet.”

Hashim Amla also provided good support to Miller as the duo took South Africa to a big score. Amla was solid despite Proteas losing wickets at regular intervals and his 51-ball-85 was crucial in taking them to a good total.
