Australian journalist Dennis Freedman has been on the receiving end of the anger of Indian cricket team fans, after he termed veteran cricketer Gautam Gambhir a ‘verbal terrorist’ following his comments on India’s relations with Pakistan.

Gambhir had recently suggested boycotting Pakistan on all front and not just cricket. News agency ANI quoted Gambhir as saying, “Merely boycotting cricketing ties with Pakistan will not help. If a ban is imposed, it should be in all sectors, be it films, music or any other. Nobody from Pakistan should be provided an opportunity to perform in India unless the relations between the two neighbours improve.”

Freedman, who has been very supportive of Pakistan and critical of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well as the national team at times, went on to call Gambhir a ‘verbal terrorist’ with his comments.

This is not the first time Freedman has run into trouble with the Indian cricket fans on social media. Earlier, after posting a picture of Indian cricketers led by Virat Kohli sweeping the Eden Gardens, Freedman had posted a photo of himself wearing a shirt that read ‘Sachin, who?’ for the batting legend Sachin Tendulkar.
