In contention for the playoffs, Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets, in Match 54 of IPL 2023, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Chasing a target of 200 runs, MI raced to 200/4 in 16.3 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav slamming 83 runs off 35 balls. Meanwhile, Nehal Wadhera clobbered an unbeaten knock of 52 runs off 34 deliveries. Opener Ishan Kishan also found form with a knock of 42 runs off 21 balls. For RCB's bowling department, Vyshak Vijay Kumar and Wanindu Hasaranga bagged two wickets each.
Initially, half-centuries from Glenn Maxwell (68) and Faf du Plessis (65) took RCB to 199/6 in 20 overs. Meanwhile, Jason Behrendorff was in fiery form for MI and scalped three wickets.
