India-NZ Kolkata Test: Bhuvneshwar five-for puts hosts in command on Day 2

Despite fighting half-centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, the hosts were 239 for seven at stumps.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar put India in command of the second Test against New Zealand at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on Saturday. The pacer’s spell of five for 33 ripped through the Black Caps’ batting to leave them 128/7 before bad light forced early stumps.

Rain interrupted play in the afternoon session at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens with New Zealand at 85. After a delay that lasted over two hours, Kumar took three more wickets to leave the Kiwis tottering. Jeetan Patel (5) and BJ Watling (12) were batting at the close of play.

Ravindra Jadeja broke Luke Ronchi’s resistance after trapping the batsman lbw for 35 as the 62-run fourth wicket partnership came to an end and a steady drizzle soon took over Eden Gardens.
