Delhi Daredevils, with six points from nine games in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, are walking a tight rope. One more loss and the Shreyas Iyer-led side would be on the brink of exit from playoffs.

Ahead of their last away match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, Delhi Daredevils leg-spinner Amit Mishra said the two wins under new captain Shreyas Iyer have boosted the players’ morale.

“We are not in a situation where we can look beyond one game at a time. We are mentally relaxed after the two wins in the last three matches. The youngsters in the team have stepped up and we are intent on staying positive,” said Mishra, who has featured in all three matches since Iyer took over from Gautam Gambhir.

Mishra though conceded the team is still searching for a collective effort from its players. As far as DD’s batting is concerned, Iyer and Rishabh Pant have done the bulk of the scoring in the nine matches so far.

“It is not the job of one or two individuals, taking the team to victory. Be it batting or bowling, a collective effort is needed,” he said.

Regarding his bowling form, Mishra said he is happy to make his presence felt with four wickets in the last three games. “It was the management’s decision to bench me after the first match. I was waiting for my chance and am happy to have got decent results. I always stayed positive. It is also heartening to see that almost every team now has a wrist spinner. Whether they take wickets or not, teams have begun to understand the value of wrist spinners,” he said.
