David Warner and Peter Handscomb helped Bangladesh take a crucial first innings lead on Day 3 of the second cricket Test in Chittagong on Wednesday after rain washed out the first session. Handscomb was run out by Shakib Al Hasan after play started late. David Warner got his 20th Test century but was eventually dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman. On a spinning track, a handy lead will put the Aussies in an advantageous position. Australia lost the first Test in Dhaka. This was their first defeat against the Bangladeshis, who are tough nuts to crack at home. Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Wade were in the midst of putting together a decent partnership, but Wade was also removed by Mustafizur, thus continuing the wicketkeeper’s poor run of form. This triggered a lower order collapse, with both Glen Maxwell and Pat Cummins being removed by Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan getting Ashton Agar’s wicket before the close of day’s play.
