Sohail Tanvir, who plays for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), was fined 15% of his match fee for giving Ben Cutting a sending off during the team’s home game against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Thursday.
Tanvir, who was caught on camera giving the Australian batsman a double middle finger gesture after dismissing him, accepted the sanction handed to him by match referee Denavon Hayles.
The Pakistani fast bowler was hit for a six by Ben Cutting in the third ball of the 17th over. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots looked set to make a decent total at that point.
However, the next delivery from Tanvir saw Cutting get clean bowled. The left-arm speedster, who was obviously not happy at being hit for a maximum on the previous ball, showed two middle fingers to the Australian batsman.
Guyana eventually cruised to a six-wicket win as Shimron Hetmyer’s heroics outshone veteran Chris Gayle’s knock of 86 in the first innings.
Tanvir finished his spell with 1 for 24 in four overs, which was instrumental in restricting the Patriots to 146 for 5.
