Deepika Padukone charmed Bangalore as the Royal Challengers decimated Kings XI on Tuesday. She couldn't be there at the venue because of a shooting assignment in New Delhi but the Bollywood PYT took time out to speak to HT.

How do you balance work and being at the matches?
I was an athlete earlier and that I come from a sports family (father Prakash is a badminton legend). So, for me anything to do with sports grabs my interest. If you're talking about the IPL and the RCB, the fact that I come from Bangalore and this being a Bangalore team, it is obvious where my loyalty lies. I will be watching almost all the home matches.
You were a lucky charm giving RCB their first win ?
(Laughs) I think it was one of the most interesting matches I have seen in IPL. The entire credit goes to the team. So it's too early to jump to conclusions, but I was happy to be there.
How do you identify
yourself with the team?
Apart from the fact that it's a Bangalore team, I understand how sport functions. I understand defeat, I understand success, and, I understand how you have to be constantly focussed. But at the same time you can't stretch yourself too much or get bogged down. Also, be it acting or sport, it requires a lot of discipline. There are a lot of sacrifices that we make on the personal front to be able to perform better on the field or in front of the camera.

Your thoughts on Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid
I have watched Anil Kumble over the years and he has not only done wonders for India, he is the perfect leader. I didn't get a chance to watch Rahul Dravid play the other day as we didn't lose too many
wickets.
