Vaibhav Gehlot, son Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, was elected president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) on Friday, getting 25 out of the 31 votes polled. The 39-year-old, supported by the incumbent RCA president and Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi, defeated Jodhpur district cricket association secretary Ram Prakash Choudhary.

After the election, Gehlot Junior said he will work under the guidance of Joshi. “His role will never be over. We will work as a team and cash in on his experience as cricket administrator,” he said talking to reporters.
Elections were held for six positions, including president. Candidates supported by the Joshi camp were declared winners on all posts.
BJP leader Ameen Pathan has been elected as the vice-president after he defeated Aishwarya Singh Katoch; Mahendra Sharma defeated Somendra Tiwari for the secretary post; Mahendra Nahar was elected as the joint secretary; KK Ninawat defeated Anant Vyas for the post of treasurer and Devaram Choudhary trounced Ramesh Gupta to be elected as an executive committee member.

Speaking about Gehlot, Joshi said, “I have personal relations with Ashok Gehlot and even have political differences. I made him (V Gehlot) a delegate not because of him being CM Ashok Gehlot’s son but to promote youth. He was later included in RCA’s tournament committee as a member. It’s not as if he has emerged one fine morning.”
