Why Yuvraj Singh doesn’t ride bikes despite his love for automobiles

Yuvraj Singh loves driving cars and has an enviable fleet, but he cannot ride motorcycles due to the fact that his mother has forbidden him from doing so.

Yuvraj Singh has held his own on countless occasions whilst turning out for India on the cricket field but at home his mother Shabnam Singh seems to be the boss.

The all-rounder, who made his last appearance for the India national cricket team during their tour of West Indies in June, recently revealed that he is not allowed to ride a bike despite his passion for it.

And the reason for this is that his mother has forbidden him to do so.

“I am not allowed to ride them. My mom has taken an oath, ‘The day you ride a bike, I will leave the house.’ To keep her in the house, I do not ride a bike,” The Economic Times quoted Yuvraj as saying.

“I love driving all cars. I have a Mercedes, an Audi, a BMW. Two cars were given to me when I hit six sixes. My favourite car is a Mercedes, which is my mom’s car,” he added.

The southpaw has recently been sidelined from Ravi Shastri’s setup citing fitness concerns. This came after he had failed to notch a good score in a ‘Yo-Yo’ endurance test at the National Cricket Academy prior to the teams departure for their tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year.

Yuvraj Singh barely managed to touch a score of 16 in the test, with 19.5 being the acceptable score. This was seen as one of the major reasons for his ouster.

A comeback looks unlikely for Yuvraj at this stage because of the high level of fitness standards mandated by Ravi Shastri, skipper Virat Kohli and the selectors.
