A glitch in the signal system in a train on the Samaypur Badli to Huda City Centre line on Thursday morning troubled Delhi University aspirants. The Vishwavidyalaya station near DU is located on this line.
The university announced its first cutoff list on Thursday and thousands of students reached DU’s north campus to apply in various colleges. The snag delayed services in the morning rush hour, leading to crowding.
According to a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson, the delay in train services on Thursday morning started after the train’s signal system developed a snag on Model Town station.

“The signal snag led to application of emergency brakes as the train moved towards Rajiv Chowk station. This slowed it down, leading to bunching of trains behind it between 8:14 am and 9:10 am,” the spokesperson said.
“Metro trains are designed to be ‘fail-safe’ to ensure safety of passengers and brakes are applied automatically when such errors occur. In order to avoid further trouble, the passengers of the faulty train were de-boarded at Rajiv Chowk station and the train was withdrawn and sent back to the depot,” the spokesperson said.
