Daly College (DC) Indore, which was to start its private university under the name DC University, has dropped plans to do so and is aiming at expanding Daly College Business School (DCBS).
The decision came in after introspecting several aspects of starting the university, out of which, shutting down of DCBS is said to one of the most important ones.
Talking to Hindustan Times, principal of DC and director of DCBS, Sumer Singh said, “We wanted to expand in higher education, so we chose to start a separate private university of our own. However, we had to drop the idea due to some reasons.”
“As per the state’s rules, no private university could run foreign courses which would have led us to shut down DCBS that has been running successfully since 1998,” said Singh.
He also suggested that Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has come with new rules that allow All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to have foreign collaborations in other courses. This reason has led decision makers to think in favour of expanding DCBS.
“Since we could now have foreign collaborations for other courses without having to start a separate university, we might as well expand DCBS. This is being seen as a positive step towards DCBS’s progress,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}Singh also said DCBS has already started looking out for foreign collaborations including one with a Singapore-based university. The announcement of DC University was made in December 2014 in the presence of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
