A total of 78.78% of the 2,140 seats available for 35 courses offered by Indore’s Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya’s University Teaching Department (UTD) were filled up at the end of the first round of counselling on Thursday.
As many as 1,686 CET (common entrance test) qualified students took admissions in different courses running at 11 departments during the week-long counselling that began on June 23.
Group C saw students take up 253 of the total 270 seats, while 537 of the total 660 seats were filled up in Group B.
The two groups, which primarily includes five-year integrated courses, once again dominated the first round of counselling and admissions.
On Thursday, the DAVV officials called 206 registered candidates from both reserved and general categories for admission to 180 seats in six courses running at School of Law, School of Life Sciences, School of Electronics and School of Biochemistry.
With only 10 admissions in M.Sc. electronics and a blank in M.Sc. electronics and communication, Group D saw only 52.77% of its 95 seats filled up.
The second round of counselling for admissions to 454 seats is expected to begin from July 20.

At the end of the first round of counselling, M.A. in Mass Communication, Bachelor of Journalism , M.Sc. in Electronics & communication and M.Sc in Electronics found few takers.
Only four and 10 students took admission in M.A. in Mass communication and M.Sc in Electronics, while Bachelor of journalism and M.Sc in electronics and communication are yet to get any candidate.
