Indian National Congress's Sherman Ali Ahmed secured a total of 73,340 votes, while All India United Democratic Front's Sheikh Abdul Hamid got 29,907 votes. Independent candidate Rajib Ahmed bagged 18,357 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 58.0%, 23.7% and 14.5% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, All India United Democratic Front's Sherman Ali Ahmed outperformed Indian National Congress's Rajib Ahmed by 32,121 votes.
