88.8% of votes were split between top 2 candidates. Asom Gana Parisad's Satyabrat Kalita secured a total of 78,170 votes, while Indian National Congress's Pranjit Choudhury got 41,261 votes. Independent candidate Matlebuddin Ahmed grabbed 6,882 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 58.1%, 30.7% and 5.1% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Bharatiya Janta Party's Jadab Chandra Deka defeated Indian National Congress's Uttara Kalita by 12,147 votes.
