Kokrajhar East is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Kokrajhar district. People of Kokrajhar East voted for Assam Assembly Election 2021 on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.
Kokrajhar East assembly constituency had 1,65,022 electors in 2016, out of which 82,141 were male voters and 82,881 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.4% votes.
In the 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election, there were 6 candidates in the fray from Kokrajhar East constituency. Kokrajhar East was one of 12 seats won by the Independent. It was a one way contest with Bodaland Peoples Front's Pramila Rani Brahma comfortably winning the election upstaging independent candidate Pratibha Brahma by a huge margin of 40,091 votes.
83.1% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bodaland Peoples Front's Pramila Rani Brahma got a total of 76,496 votes, while independent candidate Pratibha Brahma got 36,405 votes. All India United Democratic Front's candidate Manu Borgayary grabbed 12,588 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 56.3%, 26.8% and 9.3% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Bodaland Peoples Front's Pramila Rani Brahma defeated independent candidate Kishore Basumatary by 45,904 votes.
