Election 2022 Highlights: Manipur records 76.62% voter turnout
- Election 2022 updates: A total of about 8.38 lakh voters were eligible to exercise their franchise in the second and last phase of the Manipur assembly elections.
As many as 92 candidates, including two women, were in the fray for the second and last phase of Manipur assembly elections held on Saturday in 22 constituencies spread across six districts. The 22 contituencies that went to polls included Lilong, Thoubal, Wangkhem, Heirok, Wangjing Tentha, Khangabo, Wabgai, Kakching, Hiyanglam, Sugnoo, Jiribam, Chandel (ST), Tengnoupal (ST), Phungyar (ST), Ukhrul (ST), Chingai (ST), Karong (ST), Mao (ST), Tadubi (ST), Tamei (ST), Tamenglong (ST), and Nungba (ST). Final phase of polling largely peaceful: CEO Manipur
The second phase (final phase) of the Manipur Assembly elections was largely peaceful. 76.62% voter turnout recorded till 5pm. Final data will be calculated after all polling parties come back. We're expecting around 85% turnout: Rajesh Agarwal, Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur
There was no incident of major poll violence in the valley. In the hills,12 EVMs were destructed. There are chances of repoll where the EVM data can't be retrieved. We've also received some complaints from political parties which will also be examined: Agarwal

Senapati district records highest voter turnout at 82.02%
Senapati district, where polling was held in three assembly constituencies registered the highest turn out of 82.02 per cent followed by Thoubal district at 78 per cent, reported news agency PTI.

Thokchom Radheshyam Singh, the BJP candidate from Heirok assembly seat, cast his vote at the polling station at Heirok Khunou Upper Primary School. He claimed that he will win the election by a minimum of 5,000 votes.

Ex Manipur CM predicts 9 wins for Congress on 10 seats in Thoubal
Former Manipur chief minister O Ibobi Singh said he is expecting Congress to win in 9 out of 10 assembly seats in the Thoubal district. In 2017, Congress had bagged 8 of the 10 seats in the district.
