Bharatiya Janata Party's Chandrakantagouda Channappagouda Patil got a total of 73,045 votes, while Indian National Congress's Basavaraddi Rangaraddi Yavagal secured 65,066 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Girimallanagouda Ishwaragouda Patil secured 2,456 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.9%, 45.4% and 1.7% respectively.
