Indian National Congress's Amrik Singh Dhillon won the election by upstaging Aam Aadmi Party's Sarbans Singh Manki by a margin of 11,005 votes.
97.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Amrik Singh Dhillon grabbed a total of 51,930 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party's Sarbans Singh Manki got 40,925 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Santa Singh Umaidpur bagged 38,114 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 38.8%, 30.6% and 28.5% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Amrik Singh beat Shiromani Akali Dal's Kirpal Singh by 8,950 votes.
