Punjab Election: Samrala Assembly Constituency 2022

Samrala is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Ludhiana district. People of Samrala voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.

Samrala assembly constituency had 1,67,419 electors in 2017, out of which 88,538 were male voters and 78,881 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.

What happened last time

In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Samrala constituency had 9 candidates for assembly seat contention. Samrala was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Amrik Singh Dhillon won the election by upstaging Aam Aadmi Party's Sarbans Singh Manki by a margin of 11,005 votes.

97.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Amrik Singh Dhillon grabbed a total of 51,930 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party's Sarbans Singh Manki got 40,925 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Santa Singh Umaidpur bagged 38,114 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 38.8%, 30.6% and 28.5% respectively.

In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Amrik Singh beat Shiromani Akali Dal's Kirpal Singh by 8,950 votes.
