Tamil Nadu Election: Coimbatore (North) Assembly Constituency 2022

Coimbatore (North) is the assembly constituency which comes under the Coimbatore district. It is one of the 232 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2021 for Coimbatore (North) was held on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.

In 2016, the Coimbatore (North) assembly seat had 3,02,353 registered voters. Of the, 1,52,754 were male and 1,49,586 were female voters. 1.5% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In 2016, 15 candidates were contesting for Coimbatore (North) assembly constituency seat. Coimbatore (North) was one of 134 seats won by the Dravida Munetra Kazhagam. It was a close contest with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Arun Kumar P.R.G. winning the election upstaging Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's S.Meenalogu by a margin of just 7,724 votes.

80.0% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Arun Kumar P.R.G. got a total of 77,540 votes, while Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's S.Meenalogu got 69,816 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Kannan Alias S.Devaraj grabbed 16,741 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 42.1%, 37.9% and 9.1% respectively.

In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Malaravan T. defeated Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Veeragopal M. by 40,098 votes.
