Tamil Nadu Election: Kolathur Assembly Constituency 2022

Kolathur comes under the Chennai district and it is one of the 232 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Kolathur voted for Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2021 on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.

In Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2016, there were 2,61,913 registered voters for Kolathur assembly seat, out of which 1,29,587 were male and 1,32,273 were female voters. 1.4% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.

What happened last time

In the 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election, there were 24 candidates in the fray from Kolathur constituency. Kolathur was one of 89 seats won by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. It was a one way contest with Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's M.K.Stalin comfortably winning the election upstaging All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's J.C.D.Prabhakar by a huge margin of 37,730 votes.

The top two candidates split 87.9% of votes between them. Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's M.K.Stalin got a total of 91,303 votes, while All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's J.C.D.Prabhakar secured 53,573 votes. Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam's candidate P.Mathivanan secured 6,276 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 55.4%, 32.5% and 3.8% respectively.

In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Stalin M.K. outperformed All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Sadai.Sa. Duraisamy by 2,819 votes.
