Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s candidate A Soundara Rajan grabbed 10,281 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 43.1%, 42.8% and 5.5% respectively.
In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Soundararajan A defeated Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's N.R.Dhanapalan by 17,423 votes.
