Days after the UP poll results, chief secretary DS Mishra on Sunday said that he had reviewed each and every point of the BJP manifesto with a view to implementing them in due course of time as and when the government takes a call.
“Though the government will take the final decision on implementation of the pre-poll promises, I, on my part, have a held series of meetings with the departments concerned to review and discuss in detail all the points of the Sankalp Patra (manifesto),” he said.
Mishra also said a strategy was being made to implement each and every pre-poll promise but refused to share details.
Distribution of free domestic LPG (cooking gas) cylinders (one each) to all the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme on the occasion of Holi is among the promises made by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its ‘Sankalp Patra’.
“Since Holi is only a few days away, the government has to take a call on the issue of delivery (of) free cooking gas cylinders immediately and it is a challenge,” a government official said.
Holi falls on March 18, over a week after the UP poll results, and there are indications that new government would be sworn in after March 20.

{{/usCountry}}Sanjiv Kakkar, executive director and state head of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), met the chief secretary here on Friday to discuss issues related to distribution of free domestic cooking gas cylinders to the Ujjawala beneficiaries on Holi.
The government, in the meantime, is also believed to be exploring if the free LPG cylinder on Holi will be in keeping with the election commission’s code of conduct that is in force in the districts where the biennial polls for 36 MLC seats (local bodies) are due to be held next month.
People in the know of things said another important pre-poll promise of free power to farmers (for tube wells) may be implemented from the next financial year (April) and a proposal in this regard was likely be put in the very first cabinet meeting.
“We hope UP will soon become the country’s sixth state to provide free power to farmers very soon and we guess a proposal in this regard will be put in the cabinet meeting to be held after the government formation,” UP Rajya Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad chairman Avdhesh Kumar Verma said.
The government had already halved the tariff applicable to private tube wells before elections.
Finding a permanent solution to the stray cattle menace is also said to be on the government’s agenda in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise to voters that a solution to the problem had been found and would be declared after March 10.
“The departments concerned have been asked to make an action plan in this regard and make a presentation in a meeting to be chaired by the chief secretary very soon,” another official said.
“Most other pre-poll promises may be put on hold for some time till the money allocation for the same is made in the budget that the new government may table in the assembly in May-June,” he added.
