Inside Arjun Kanungo’s (popular for his song Baki Baatein Peene Baad, Go Goa Gone) sea-facing Bandra apartment you’d almost feel like you’re on a beach holiday. The six-feet plus tall singer still hasn’t unpacked his bags from his recent trip to New York where he’d been for a vacation. He strums his guitar and hums some melodies for us while he’s being shot.

Style sensibility: “For me fashion is about looking presentable or dressing for the occasion. It’s not about being overdressed or underdressed.”
Closet staples: “Jeans and T-shirts. I love shoes too. I have 63 pairs.”
Best foot forward: “I have six pairs from Adidas Originals. For semi-formal occasions, I prefer Aldo. Salvatore Ferragamo, Zara and H&M shoes, are very trendy. I’ve bought some shoes online too since once you know your fit it’s easy to pick.”
Labels he swears by: “For everyday apparels, I like Zara, H&M, Superdry and Jack & Jones. Adidas is my go-to label though. I like a hip hop and a sporty kind of look. I love Troy Costa and Hugo Boss suits. I’m actually not much of an Armani suits, person, I think they’re a bit dated.”
Shades of grey: “I’m a monochrome person. Blacks, greys and whites are my go-to shades, with a little pop of colour thrown in for drama. I have black-and-white T-shirts in every fit and different kinds of neck. I also wear blue and orange, but stay away from pink because I think it makes me look a bit feminine.”

{{/usCountry}}No-go zone: “Corduroy pants. I think you can only wear them for Halloween, because you can be excused for looking terrible on that day.”
Prized possessions: “There’s nothing like suits. I could spend all my money on them.”
Shady business: “I love sunglasses. I don’t know how many pairs I own, because I end up buying one every month. I went through an Oakley and Ray-Ban phase, where I got every possible model the brands made. I’ve moved on to the Italian brands now, and Persol is my new favourite.”
Favourite shopping destination: “New York City, hands down. People make Paris sound like the fashion capital, but I think it’s overly expensive.”
Urge to splurge: “My Omega watch. I just bought it last month. Oh, and my handmade Persol sunglasses are the most expensive ones I’ve ever bought. They cost me $500 (`33,000 approx).”
Can’t do without: “Underwear... OK, wait, plain T-shirts, because they go with anything.”
Style icon: “Thomas Wesley Pentz (American DJ, record producer, rapper and songwriter) and designer Troy Costa.”
At home: “You’ll find me wearing boxers and sleeveless T-shirts.”
