Designer Manish Malhotra is known for dressing Bollywood biggies and brides all across the globe. And, at his recent couture showcase held in Dubai, the inspiration was ample. Here are seven style takeaways from the show:
1. FRINGES, FUR AND PLUMES
There’s nothing that spells glamour like a fringe waterfall, lined with metallic, chainmail-inspired detailing. Faux fur and ruffles also stood out in Malhotra’s collection. If you want to make a statement, pick these bold details over typically bridal bold hues.
2. THE STATEMENT BACK

{{/usCountry}}One doesn’t have to go for heavy-set embroidery to make the look festive or wedding-ready. This look is testament to the fact that every little detail matters — especially if it includes sprucing the back. We are loving the cut-out here, which provides a visual (and sexy) break from done-to-death styles.
3. THE GATSBY BLOUSE
The fashion of the 1920s was all about drop-waist dresses, flapper-style headdresses and of course, some fur. While Malhotra’s collection exuded a strong vintage vibe, it’s safe to say that these blouses will make a statement like no other. If you dare to do it different, be inspired, ladies and innovate with plumes and fur.
4. REJIGGED SARI
The sari has seen a myriad variations over the years, and Malhotra has also added his interesting twist to it, too. Here’s two-way inspiration from his drape theory — the luxe black sari paired with a full sleeved blouse and the new-age layered sari. These are perfect for a red-carpet worthy sangeet function or even your family Diwali party.
5. ROMANCE AND ROSETTES
Romance is inherent in layers of tulle and three-dimensional details. And, from spring to fall — florals never go out of style. Mixing all these elements, here’s cue for your reception outfit. The colour story is also interesting — earthy browns and lilacs with metallic add-ons.
6. THE QUEEN’S CAPE
While caped blouses have been around for a while, there detachable versions seem more practical, and add an extra punch of glamour, too. So, channel the superwoman in you by adding them to your festive wardrobe. What we love here is also the epaulette-style detailing (check out Kriti Sanon), making the shoulders stand out.
7. THEY STOLE THE SHOW
There’s inspiration for men too. And, here’s how adding an extra element — like a stand-out stole or lightweight shawl — can change the entire look. Sometimes, the styling can make all the difference, so guys, focus on it to change up your fashion game this festive season.
