White is the new black and Bollywood divas can’t get enough of it

From pearly white saris with shimmering sheer pallus to anarkalis dipped in milk and cream - our filmy ladies are getting the hang of looking like a vision in white.

Most of us often find ourselves on one of the two sides of the spectrum — we either always turns up in black, or, we are a big fan of all things white. And, to be honest, we are currently striving to join the latter.

Serene ivories, silken creams and milky whites are not only a fashion week favourite, but white seems to be ruling celeb wardrobes even for the festive season.

Take for example, the many Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, where white seemed to be a winner. But, what is it about traditional attire and the serene hue which makes it a safe (yet stylish!) bet, that too, across seasons? “White is my favourite and I wear it all the time. For me, it personifies peace and has a positive vibe about it,” says designer Leena Singh, who is often spotted in white-hued ethnicwear.

Juhi Chawla, Bipasha Basu (in Sabyasachi) and Aditi Rao Hydari (in Sukriti & Aakriti) have also been spotted in white ethnicwear at recent dos.

“Also, when it comes to white, one can work in a myriad ways with it and do so much design-wise. So when it comes to playing with the hue, it is not a challenging task,” she adds. While Singh is a big proponent of the colour, one person you wouldn’t really spot in white is designer Nida Mahmood.
