A report published in the Hindustan Times on Tuesday had raised the issue of traffic bottlenecks on the link road that led to perennial traffic snarls.

Kumar was accompanied by deputy commissioner of police (DCP) (traffic) Bharti Arora during the five-hour inspection. Taking note of four main problem areas discussed in the HT report, officials visited busy intersections, including Shankar Chowk, Iffco Chowk, Signature Tower crossing and Rajiv Chowk.

The authorities issued directions to demolish the triangle structures that bifurcate the main carriageway traffic with the turning traffic at most of the intersections. These dividers are structurally faulty as they fall in the middle of the road for motorists crisscrossing the expressway.

The Huda boss also issued directions to cover up unused drainage and sewer lines to make space for more vehicles. Also, slip roads will be extended to reduce traffic volume at the traffic signals. Huda will co-ordinate with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to trim U-turns under the expressway.
