Bawal is 70 kilometres from the Millennium City.

The farmers will protest at Bawal, off NH-8, also known as the Jaipur Road.

"Some 5,000 farmers and villagers are expected to take part in the rally," said colonel (retd) Devinder Sehrawat of the Federation of Farmer Organisations. The state government's land acquisition plan stretches across 84 villages and residents say they fear being "short changed" for their land.

"Most of the land acquisition in Haryana has failed to compensate farmers adequately," said Choudhary Surajmal, convener of the federation. The government has ambitious industrial development plans in Bawal, which falls on the strategic Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).

At present, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has a growth centre in Bawal, which houses nearly 2,000 big national and international companies.

It is one of the four early bird projects, to be developed under the DMIC. The government is looking at objections received from landowners under Section 5-A of the Act during the prescribed one year, which will end this month.
