Need for better infra, health dominate community summit held in Gurgaon

Over 200 people from different professions and government officials attended the summit ‘TheGurgaonStory’ and shared stories and ideas on how to transform the city

The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) and YourStory, a platform that provides news and research related to startups, held a community-oriented summit ‘The Gurgaon Story’ on Sunday to mark Haryana Day. The summit aimed at providing new ideas and startup ecosystem to residents of Gurgaon.

Over 200 people from different professions and officials from government agencies attended the summit. They shared their stories and ideas on how to transform Gurgaon using technology, innovation, design and entertainment.

Gurgaon deputy commissioner TL Satyaprakash said infrastructure in Old Gurgaon was weak but, the situation was better in New Gurgaon. The government plans to carry out major development work across the city, he said.

MCG commissioner Vikas Gupta congratulated the people on the occasion of Haryana Day. He said when Haryana was formed, the state was hardly developed and it has come a long way now. Gupta said Gurgaon was one of the best cities in Haryana and MCG would soon introduce a world-class transport service and build a cultural centre too.

He said marathons should be organised often as they help people share ideas. People should actively participate in marathons for which infrastructure is not a requirement, he said.

Annuradha Goyal, author of The Mouse Charmers, architect Harsha Sridhar and singer Shibani Kashyap also spoke at the event.
