One arrested for gang-rape, Gurgaon police hunt co-accused

The incident came to light two days later when the woman was questioned by her parents about her unusual silence and change in behaviour.

The police, on Thursday, arrested one of the two men booked for abducting and raping a college student in a moving car in Farrukhnagar area, around 22km from Gurgaon, on Monday. The arrested man was identified as Pawan (24).

The complaint was lodged by the 20-year-old on Wednesday, two days after she was raped and threatened with dire consequences by the accused if she reported the matter.

The incident came to light after the woman was questioned by her parents about her unusual silence and change in behaviour. The woman opened up to her parents on Wednesday, after which they lodged a complaint at the Farrukhnagar police station.

The victim told her parents that she was pulled into a car by the two men when she was waiting for a bus near the Khandewala village on Monday.

Later, the men threatened her and warned her to not disclose the matter to anyone, and dropped her off. The incident took place on Monday when she was on her way to college.

Gurgaon police public relations officer Ravinder Kumar said that a case of gang-rape and abduction was registered against the accused under sections sections 376D, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

“A case of gang-rape was registered as soon as the complaint was made. The facts are being verified and the second accused will also be arrested soon,” Ravinder Kumar said.

In another incident, a man were booked on Wednesday night for allegedly molesting a woman, who is his friend’s wife.

The victim, who lives in Hailey Mandi, told the police that the incident took place after her husband had passed out after drinking with his friends.

Somewhere around midnight, the accused, who was also in her home, came downstairs asking for water. When the victim turned to oblige, he molested and harassed her, the woman told police in her complaint, adding that she cried for help alerting her husband who came to her rescue.

The couple immediately went to the Hailey Mandi police station and reported the matter. A case under sections 354 and 354A of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused.

A man was booked under Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act for harassing and stalking a minor girl for last several days. The victim, in her complaint, told police that the accused had been following her for many days; he would harass her and use foul language. Sub inspector Meena of the Sohna city police station said that the accused has been identified and would be arrested soon.
