Hollywood director and actor
says his experience of playing a chef in his recently-released film by the same name, made him meet many chefs across the board, and they all love Indian food.
“I met many chefs and they all love Indian food — Indian cuisine is a burst of many flavours — sweet, sour, spicy, bold and subtle, which is interesting,” says Favreau. He adds: “Also, my wife loves Indian food, so we eat a lot.”
The actor and filmmaker, who directed the first two installments of The Iron Man series and Daniel Craig-starrer Cowboys and Aliens, says directing and bringing actors such as Scarlett Johansson,
, Dustin Hoffman and Sofía Vergara on board for his recently-released film, was an easy-breezy task.
“They all loved the script and were happy to make guest appearances in the film. I have already worked with Robert and Scarlett on Iron Man series but working with Hoffman was a big deal for me, as I am such a huge fan of his,” says the 47-year-old, who’ll soon be directing Jungle Book.
And what made him pick up a script about food and chefs? Says Favreau: “Chefs are rockstars in America, there are hit shows on TV and they are much talked-about among the public. Also, food can be shot beautifully, cinematically. So, I thought of exploring that world.”

Considering he has dabbled successfully in both worlds — acting and directing — which one does he like more? “I enjoy both, but I like directing more. I like acting every once in a while, but directing will always take precedence,” says Favreau.
