Romance on celluloid has always been considered a recipe for box office success. The story of When Harry Met Sally (1989), in which actor Billy Crystal and actor Meg Ryan share a platonic relationship only to realise that they are made for each other, still remains one of the most critically appreciated romantic movies of all times.

The latest example includes The Theory of Everything — the biopic on the life of popular scientist Stephen Hawking — that revolves around the bond that Hawking shared with his ex-wife, Jane. Apart from this flick, which has been nominated in the Best Picture category at this year’s Oscars, other such movies that released last year included Fault in Our Stars and The Spectacular. On this Valentine’s Day, we take a look at some cinematic love stories, scheduled to release this year, that have been creating a buzz on the internet.

Paper Towns
The romantic mystery, which sees actor Nat Wolff’s character hunt for his missing love interest (played by super model-turned-actor Cara Delevigne), is based on the 2008 novel by the same name. Directed by Jake Schreier, the film is written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H Weber, and will release on June 5.

The Age of Adaline

A romantic fantasy, this film will see actor Blake Lively play the role of Adaline Bowman, who remains a 29-year-old for 80 years before she meets Ellis Jones (played by actor Michiel Huisman), which changes her life. Actor Harrison ford play Adaline’s father. The film has been directed by Lee Toland Krieger, and is expected to release in April this year.

Far From The Madding Crowd

Based on the 1874 classic novel by Thomas Hardy, this period romantic film will see actor Carey Mulligan (The Great Gatsby, 2013) play the titular role of independent farm owner, Bathsheba Everdene, who is spoilt for choice with three suitors. Directed by Thomas Vinterberg (It’s All About Love, 2003), the film is set to release on Mayy 1.
