'In diplomacy, I would put security above all other considerations': Jaishankar

External affairs minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday there are three diplomatic priorities for India to take into consideration amid the ever changing geopolitical trends and shifts.

Jaishankar was speaking with foreign affairs expert Pramit Pal Chaudhuri on the third day of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2021. “My number one priority would be national security. In diplomacy, I would put security above all other considerations,” Jaishankar said.

Jaishankar was responding to a question about his three diplomatic priorities for India and as a minister.

"Number 2 would be the big powers, the countries which shape the global order and having good relations with them so that we are treated well,” Jaishankar added.

"Number 3 would be developing steadily a larger footprint, more relationships, greater constituency, moving towards a global visibility. Conscious that it would take time,” the foreign minister said.
