However, there is a chance of rain playing spoilsport in this massive game in the tournament as London awoke to dark clouds in the morning. According to weather reports, conditions are expected to be cloudy with little chance of rain.
The ICC Champions Trophy 2017 has been affected by rain for majority of the league games. Australia’s two matches have been washed out due to rain while rain played spoilsport in the India vs Pakistan clash and in the South Africa vs Pakistan match. Both matches were held in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
A possible wash-out changes the entire complexion of Group B. If the India vs South Africa game is washed out, then India are still through as they have a better net run-rate. However, for South Africa to go through, they have to hope that the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka game is also washed out. In case both the league games are abandoned due to rain, only then India and South Africa have a chance to enter the semi-final.
England and Bangladesh are the other teams in Group A who have secured qualification for the semi-final. In case the match goes through without interruptions, the winner of the India vs South Africa match will face Bangladesh.
