3 civilians killed in attack by militants in Kashmir’s Baramulla: Police

The incident comes hours after two Hizbul Mujahedeen militants were killed and two army soldiers wounded in an encounter south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.

Three civilians were gunned down by militants in the north Kashmir town of Baramulla on Monday afternoon, police said.

“Three civilians – Asif Ahmad Sheikh, Haseeb Ahmad Khan and Mohammad Asgar – were killed by terrorists,” a police spokesperson said.

A senior police officer said the bullet-riddled bodies of the civilians were found late that evening in the older part of Baramulla town. Further information is awaited.

The incident comes hours after two Hizbul Mujahedeen militants were killed and two army soldiers wounded in an encounter between militants and government forces in Drabgam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A civilian was also killed in clashes near the encounter site.
