The houseowner is believed to have alerted the police control room about the suitcase around 5.30 pm on Thursday, news agency PTI reported. Police identified the deceased woman as Guri Khedekar, who was married to Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar (36).

“When our Hulimavu police inspector reached the house, it was locked. After gaining entry, they found a suitcase in the bathroom. That's when we realised it was an offence. The FSL team opened the suitcase and discovered a woman's body with injury marks all over,” news agency ANI quoted DCP South-east Bengaluru Sarah Fathima as saying.

The couple moved to Bengaluru last month resided within the Hulimavu police station limits. The woman had graduated with a bachelor's in mass media while her husband who works with a private firm was working from home.

Authorities have sent the woman's body for a post-mortem. Police have identified stab injuries all over the deceased's body. Forensic experts reached the crime scene and collected samples for further probe.

The official refused to comment on reports that the accused had informed his wife's parents about killing her. “The matter is underway investigation, and these details needs to be verified,” she added.

The deceased woman was reportedly unemployed, and the couple was engaged in frequent arguments, during which Guri was allegedly physically assaulted. On March 26, an argument escalated, leading Rakesh to stab Gauri in her stomach and slit her throat, reported India Today. He then packed her body into a suitcase and left it in the bathroom before escaping to Pune.

“The body was not cut into pieces; it was intact. The exact nature of injuries will be confirmed after the postmortem report,” India Today reported quoting the official.
