They spent 30 minutes in the hospital and enquired about the treatment given to 68-year-old Jayalalithaa. They did not interact with the media.

“Visited Apollo hospital Chennai today. I wish J Jayalalithaa Ji, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu a speedy recovery”, Jaitley posted on Twitter.

Shah too posted on Twitter, saying, “Visited Apollo Hospital in Chennai to enquire about the health of Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa Ji. I wish and pray for her speedy recovery.”

Former Puducherry chief minister N Rangasamy also visited the hospital earlier in the day. “I pray for her speedy recovery,” he told reporters.

The AIADMK supremo was admitted to the hospital on September 22 after she complained of fever and dehydration.

In the latest bulletin issued on Monday, the hospital said she continued to be under treatment and was being constantly monitored by intensivists and other consultants in the expert panel, while respiratory support, antibiotics, nutrition, supportive therapy and passive physiotherapy were being given to her.

DMK Leader of Opposition M K Stalin, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Su Thirunavukkarasar, CPI(M) Leader G Ramakrishnan and CPI Leader D Pandian also paid a visit to the hospital.

However no one interacted with the Tamil Nadu chief minister in person.
